I have read where people have asked if visiting Alsace, France is worth it. I can not imagine why that question would come up… could come up!
It’s unthinkable to ask that question. Of course visiting Alsace is worth it! What ever worth it means. Worth the time? Yes! Worth the money? Yes!
Have we put that question to rest? I hope so.
Visiting Alsace is an Unforgettable Experience
Alsace is one of the most beautiful parts of eastern France. There are exciting cities to see. Gorgeous villages to wander. Historic castles, like Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle to tour, a 12th century castle built high on a bluff overlooking the valley, to ramble through. Incredible wines to ponder. And, diverse cuisine to savor.
Possibly, the most difficult part of visiting Alsace is trying to decide which of the many lovely villages to stay in. There are so many along the Route du Vin, the Wine Road, all with their own “flavor”, that you will want to stay in each.
Will it be Ribeauville, Riquewihr, or Kaysersberg? The larger town of Colmar, or maybe Barr?
Or, maybe, you’ll want to stay in Equisheim, possibly the most typical of the Alsace villages. You can take a stroll through its narrow streets and breath in the history while reveling in the broad spectrum of building colors.
Equisheim is built in a series of concentric circles. And, so it is impossible to get lost as you amble along absentmindedly soaking in the colors of the houses and the lovingly tended flower boxes.
Don’t forget to take in the vineyards that surround Equisheim. You can avoid it of course, but make sure to soak it all up.
Wherever you find yourself staying, you are going to enjoy your experience
Are still unsure whether to visit the Alsace? Then let’s be blunt. In short, yes you should visit Alsace. Without question!
