Our Faaborg Denmark guide was limited, it was just us, stumbling around town. Jodi has done extensive research into her heritage, and, along, with all of her English ancestors on one side of the family, she has Danish ancestry as well. Just as I do. Although, she can trace hers right to Faaborg. And that is how we found ourselves here with little forethought or planning.
Faaborg Denmark Guide: Things to See and Do
This is an absolutely beautiful part of Denmark. Rolling countryside leading down to the sea, and when you get there you find the charming town of Faaborg.
The town is picturesque and idyllic. If you enjoy peace, this is it! Here is a link to a video offered by the town of Faaborg that you may like.
This old merchant’s city still has its original small and cosy streets that provide an enchanting setting. The town square is the hub of it all, and here is where you will find all of the restaurants and cafés.
The atmosphere is further enhanced by the colorful buildings that surround the square that offers life music and other entertainment. It has been
described by some as “almost Mediterranean” in it’s serenity.
Visit Kaleko Watermill continuously in the same location since the 1500s. Or, take in the Belfry in town, or visit the waterfront and go for a swim.
Be sure to stop in at the tourism office and ask about the Night Watchman’s walking tours. These are always fun, and a great way to learn more about the town that you are in. Often times the things you learn are about the seedier side of life.
And, for those of you who like to see things from the saddle of a bicycle, something that I take every opportunity to do, you can rent a bike to explore the town and its surroundings. I mean, come on, isn’t that a fabulous scene?
I wish that was a photo of us, but alas, we are not that young anymore. But, that is still one of our favorite things to do anytime we can find a place the offers the opportunity.
Faaborg Denmark Guide: Places to Stay
As usual, we like to stay in the heart of things if it is at all possible, and our Faaborg selection is no different. Faaborg Byferie is right on the town square. Can’t get more central than that. They have small apartments, that have been renovated, that come with fully equipped kitchenette and fridge. Parking is available, too. For more on Faaborg Byferie.
Naturally, not everyone shares our sensibilities, and would rather stay out of town. LundsGaard Guesthouse is right up your alley, I bet. The property, a restored farmhouse, is in a very rural setting an is very scenic. The rooms are quite basic, but everything you should need. For more on LundsGaard Guesthouse.
There’s no doubt in my mind that, if you like a peaceful, idyllic kind of holiday, then you will find a visit to Faaborg an absolute joy.
We hope our little Faaborg Denmark guide was of some help. Have a great time!
