Sometime ago it looked as we were headed to the south of France, but, after much discussion that has changed. So, here is the new itinerary as it is now set in stone.
We are now heading to the eastern part of France. We will be flying into Geneva, Switzerland, and then we will be splurging a bit and taking a hired car from the Geneva airport to Lac Annecy in the foothills of the Alps.
After several days in Annecy, we will head north to the Alsace region. We plan on making Colmar our home base as we visit the surrounding villages and wine country.
Another couple of days in Colmar and vicinity, then on to Strasbourg. Strasbourg is but a short stay before rocketing across France in the TGV to Normandy.
While in Normandy, the plan is to check out Rouen, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, about a week in the lovely coastal town of Honfleur, and then finally three or four days in the City of Lights, Paris.
